Amy Mackelden is a freelance entertainment journalist and editor, living with multiple sclerosis and ADHD. Her bylines include Harper’s BAZAAR, ELLE, People, The Rumpus, The Independent, HelloGiggles, Cosmopolitan, & Bustle. She previously worked as a script editor for Static Media.

Amy co-edited the Emma Press Anthology of Illness, and has written about health for Healthline, The Paper Gown, The Checkup by Singlecare, MS Society, MS Trust, and Byrdie. In 2019, she undertook Columbia University's short course in Narrative Medicine funded by a Developing Your Creative Practice grant from Arts Council England.

After winning a Northern Writers’ Award from New Writing North, Amy co-founded Butcher’s Dog. She previously co-edited feminist pop culture blog Clarissa Explains F*ck All with Amy Roberts.
